About In addition to his acting career, Nathan Head has built an impressive
portfolio in radio broadcasting. For nearly three years he co-presented a
weekly entertainment programme on 103.6FM Tameside Radio, where he also
delivered the entertainment news updates on Sundays, following the Sky News
Centre bulletins. Nathan first appeared on Tameside Radio in 2009 to discuss
an upcoming film screening, and soon after became a regular contributor to
The
Matinée Show, which he co-hosted every Sunday until his departure in 2011. The
programme featured showtunes, musical reviews, and theatrical discussion,
alongside interviews with a wide range of guests and celebrities including Sue
Devaney, Jeff Wayne, Nicki French, Sue Jenkins, Scott Bruton, Rowetta Satchell
and Margarita Pracatan. Nathan’s work on The Matinée Show led to further
opportunities, most notably his own segment,
The Showbiz Slot, broadcast
weekly on Online World Radio in 2010. The feature was later re-released as a podcast via iTunes in 2011, followed by a second series in 2012 and a one-off
special in 2015.
Nathan Head has also ventured into the world of audio drama, lending his voice
to a range of productions across community and educational radio. He performed
in the radio pantomime Not Quite Snow White for 103.6FM Tameside Radio, and
took on roles in the adaptations of The Pilgrim's Progress and The Holy War
for Flame Radio. He also featured in the original audio drama Love Kills for
Walsall College Radio.

Brief history of The Matinée Show Gaydio was an online radio station launched in August 2006 by Ian Wallace and Toby Whitehouse, with Nathan Head invited to the Manchester launch starring three-time Grammy nominee Bonnie Tyler. Among its highlights was
an new entertainment feature called The Matinée Show, hosted by James Dean and Manchester drag performer
Madame Aries. In 2007, Tameside Radio was established under programme director Andy Hoyle at Cavendish Mill, Ashton-under-Lyne. Dean
& Aries migrated The Matinée Show there, maintaining its Sunday format of reviews and showtunes. The team grew to include Gracie Fields expert Sebastian “Seb in the corner” Lassandro in 2008 and Broadway correspondent Suko Sullivan, who reported from the U.S. Guests included X-Factor’s Scott Bruton and Eurovision’s Nicki French. Nathan Head first appeared on 103.6FM Tameside Radio on 2nd August 2009 to discuss his horror film success and soon became a weekly contributor, co-presenting for nearly two years with Dean, Bruton and a drag performer. After Lassandro’s departure in October 2010, Sullivan continued via Skype. The show featured reviews, showtunes, theatre talk and interviews with stars such as Sue Devaney, Jeff Wayne, Nicki French, Sue Jenkins, Rowetta Satchell, Margarita Pracatan and guest singer Heather Dinnarr of Rose Red, who also performed at a charity fundraiser organised by the team. By late 2010, regular listener and singer John Mercer had joined the line-up. With Madame Aries appearing less due to ill health, Dean, Mercer and Head hosted most editions, while Nathan also read entertainment news highlights following Sky News Centre updates. By 2011, the team comprised Dean, Head and Mercer. Nathan left on 17th July 2011, shortly before the station was acquired by New Charter Housing Trust and merged with Quest Media Ltd, publishers of the Tameside Reporter. After the merger, drivetime presenter Gareth Cottrel became programme controller and The Matinée Show was absorbed into the daily magazine Tameside Tonight. Nathan returned briefly on 11th December 2011 to promote The Zombie King. Quest Media continued running the station with Reporter journalists supplying news. Dean remained host, joined Thursdays by Madame Aries, while Mercer fronted a breakfast show and Bruton hosted a weekly music programme. Nathan guested again on 14th March 2013 to discuss new film projects. In 2014 Dean was promoted to executive station manager and The Matinée Show returned to its Sunday slot under Mercer. Madame Aries passed away on 28th February 2018, with a tribute broadcast aired on 4th March featuring Nathan. Around 2020, the show migrated to My Tameside community radio as a podcast, later relaunched as a two-hour programme on 7th February 2021.
